Fetal Intracranial Hemorrhage as a Complication of Low Dose Aspirin : Detection and Management
OF LOW DOSE ASPIRIN : DETECTION AND MANAGEMENT Intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) in the fetus and newborn is a rare phenomenon with intra periventricular hemorrhage (IVH-PVH) being the most common type. The incidence of intracranial hemorrhage is higher in premature infants, occurring in approximately 25 45% of less than 32 weeks gestation or with a birth weight of less than 1,500g (Ref: 1, 2). Alt...
متن کاملWarfarin-associated fetal intracranial hemorrhage: a case report.
A 27-yr-old woman who had been taking warfarin for 10 yr after mitral valve replacement became pregnant. After knowing her pregnancy, she received heparinization for nine weeks instead of warfarin, and took oral anticoagulant again. At 24 weeks of gestation, fetal ultrasound and MRI showed a left subdural hematoma, and the pregnancy was terminated. Subdural hematoma was demonstrated on autopsy....
متن کاملFetal intracranial hemorrhage in a patient with intrahepatic
Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) is associated to unpredictable fetal risks. The mechanisms underlying poor perinatal outcomes are unknown. Intracranial fetal hemorrhage is a possible complication of ICP. A young patient presented with mild ICP and severe transaminases elevation, at 32 weeks of pregnancy. Ultrasound revealed fetal ventriculomegalia probably secondary to intracranial ...
متن کاملPoor prognosis in warfarin-associated intracranial hemorrhage despite anticoagulation reversal.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Anticoagulant-associated intracranial hemorrhage (aaICH) presents with larger hematoma volumes, higher risk of hematoma expansion, and worse outcome than spontaneous intracranial hemorrhage. Prothrombin complex concentrates (PCCs) are indicated for urgent reversal of anticoagulation after aaICH. Given the lack of randomized controlled trial evidence of efficacy, and the p...
متن کاملTREATMENT OF SPONTANEOUS INTRACRANIAL HEMORRHAGE USING UROKINASE
Twenty patients with intracranial hematoma (ICH or IVH) were treated with direct infusion of urokinase through a catheter. Reduction of hematoma volume was observed within a few days. Twelve patients showed good or excellent outcome. No infection or rebleeding was observed.
